Huawei Nexus 6P Cracked LCD Screen Repair Guide:

Step 1. Power off the phone and remove SIM card tray.

Just use eject pin to remove Huawei Nexus 6P SIM card tray. Never forget or it will be a barrier to remove motherboard.

Step 2. Remove top rear glass panel.

The top rear glass panel is made of easily shattered glass and some reports exposed that this part would shatter spontaneously. So you must be careful to disassemble this part. The adhesive underneath is thick, use hobby knife to open a gap and cut the sticker. Be careful and do not scratch Nexus 6P rear glass panel.

Step3. Remove bottom rear cover.

This plastic panel at the bottom can be easily pried and peeled off after heating enough.

Step 4. Remove back cover.

We have to say it is the most toughest part to disassemble. Twist off 6 screws together. The back cover and the front assembly connects ultra tightly, so it is difficult to separate them. Some people used heavy-duty suction cup to help separate these two parts. Here we use guitar picks to pry the front assembly from the rear cover. Several minutes later, we successfully separate these two parts.

Step 5. Remove flex connecting motherboard and daughterboard.

Twist off one screw here and remove the metal bracket securing the flex cable. Then disconnect three connectors and remove the flex.

Step 6. Remove battery.

1. Release battery connector and use plastic card and spudger to pry up the battery.
2. The battery is fiercely glued in, use thin plastic card to help cut the strong adhesive underneath.

Step 7. Remove daughterboard.

Remove signal cable connector and twist off one Phillips screw securing the daughterboard, then pry up and remove daughterboard.

Step 8. Remove loudspeaker.

Twist off one Philips screw firstly. There is no underlying adhesive, just take away loudspeaker.

Step 9. Remove motherboard assembly.
1. Unscrew 5 Phillips screws together.
2. Take away 2 metal securing brackets.
3. Release signal cable connector and LCD screen connector.
4. Pry up and remove motherboard assembly.

Step 10. Remove LCD display.

Before Huawei Nexus 6P cracked LCD screen removal, you must know the adhesive underneath is a little bit strong, so use heat gun/hair dryer to soften the sticker for a few minutes. Then with the help of guitar picks and cross spudger, be careful to remove the damaged LCD screen assembly.

  • Hi, is there a way to replace only the front glass on the Nexus 6P’s screen? I’ve dropped mine and made a handful of nasty cracks down most of the length of the glass, but the screen is intact and the touch panel all around even the worst of the cracks works just fine, so I’d like to be able to replace just the glass at the front of the phone without dismantling the entire thing. Thanks in advance for any help.

    • To be honest, if you are not professional, I prefer you replace lcd with digitizer, it is very difficult to replace glass only.

You mean it’s possible? If so, could you give us a hint on how to do this please? (I take responsibility for failures during the operation)

        • Please google lcd screen separator, you need that machine. And firstly, disassemble your phone and heat up the screen with that machine, and then separator the front glass with a very very thin steel wire.

I’ve done it before on a friend’s Samsung S6, where I removed just the glass. It was a hot mess, literally, dealing with hot shards of glass.. but I was able to do it. Unfortunately I adhered the new glass using just edge stickers, all that came with the replacement glass. The friend didn’t care.

The 6P uses LOCA (liquid optically clear adhesive) all over the glass so will be just as hard to remove as was the S6.

To me it’s more a concern that the replacement glass be 1) just as good, form-fitting 2) use LOCA again to adhere the same as before.

          Has anyone done this?

Just asking here ‘for a friend’ — -(dropped mine taking photos of the solar eclipse through my telescope).
